Developed in line with recognised industry best practice and guidance, IST offers a range of courses that ensure Operatives, Supervisors and Inspectors obtain the relevant skills, knowledge and behaviours to maintain a safe and productive workplace.

IST programmes combine interactive classroom sessions, with practical erection and dismantling of scaffold structures, all delivered by qualified experienced instructors. Candidates will be assessed on their scaffolding knowledge and skills via practical and theoretical assessments.

All elements of the course must be successfully completed to a required standard for the candidate to complete the programme. IST can provide verification of competence for time served but unqualified candidates whilst also offering a controlled route of progression for those with little or no experience.
Candidates will be required to complete training programmes, onsite experience and assessments of increasing complexity on their way to becoming fully qualified scaffolders. IST provides transferable core scaffolding competencies that can be practiced around the globe.
In most cases training and assessment can be carried out either at our training centres or on site, providing suitable facilities, materials and classrooms are available. Note that some of the more complex training, such as the Advanced Scaffolder, needs to be completed at our specially equipped scaffolder training centres. Candidates who successfully pass our training courses will receive our IST Certificate and Cards.

IST certificates and record cards are valid for 3 years from the date the training was completed. Certificates and Record Cards can be renewed by completing the relevant refresher courses.

Training records are held on a central database providing secure access for clients and employers, to authenticate and verify training records online.
